“No, I said you didn’t need to buy me one. I never said I didn’t want a present.”
“MooooOOOOOmmmmmm. It’s the same thing!”
“No, it’s not. Besides, what about my idea – doing something nice for me instead of a gift? Like maybe – cleaning the house?”
…crickets chirping…
In retrospect, I should have insisted that the kid cough up a Real Live Gift instead of going all noble and self-sacrificing. Especially once I found out that part of last week’s allowance went for soda and snacks for all of his friends…!
I guess that means I’ll be buying the much-coveted iPod Touch with my own money, hmmm?
Which *may* just mean that I won’t have money for allowance on Friday after all…
