The new cable box is here! The new cable box is here!
By Betsy Richter | 6:50 amI have a very old television in my bedroom that just has a cable directly from the wall into the tv itself (need to have it for an antenna, if nothing else.) But, hey! Comcast is now giving away free digital boxes for a year! So I broke down and ordered one.
It arrived yesterday. And after all that unopening and reconfiguring (made that much more amusing when a rogue candle holder strategically dropped on the on-off switch on my power strip had me convinced that my TELEVISION WAS NOW BROKEN!!! for a few minutes) and calling Comcast to do their magic to get the box enabled and the 45 minutes it took to download all the data, (not to mention all the dust I stirred up in the process) well…
I’m unimpressed. There’s even more stuff I don’t want to watch as I’m winding down & getting ready to sleep. And the remote? There’s no sleep timer. Even my old 30 year old television has a sleep timer in its (still functional) remote.
Which explains why I’m so cranky this morning. Wouldn’t you be, if you woke up to the theme song of Coach? The same theme song that’s now infiltrated your subconscious and Won’t Stop Playing in your brain?
So on tonight’s list of to-dos: get my own all-in-one remote (yep, this one has a sleep timer as well) to get to talk to the cable box. Or not.
Yep, it’s fun times around here…!

I just got one of those cable boxes, too and my conclusion is the same. There is a lot of stuff I don’t want to watch and now I spend more time flipping through all the channels!

I used to have A nice CABLE BOX……then I started to have problems with it so they brought me out another one that is really old I went ahead and bought this one…..now I would like to have A new one…..
