Thanksgiving Muffins, yet again
By Betsy Richter | 9:37 pmIt’s 9:22 pm, and I’ve got my daughter still up and slaving away. Why? We’re on the first round of assembling our now-traditional Thanksgiving Muffin giveaway, that’s why.
Since our schools are closed all of next week, DM and I snapped into high gear in order to assemble bags of muffins tonight. This year’s batch includes the typical orange & cranberries, but also adds in cinnamon chips and cashews, pulsed briefly in the food processor to combine.
She insisted on the following message, scrawled on index cards stapled to the outside of each bag:
Thanksgiving Muffins
We are thankful for you,
so take these muffins
in an honor of joy.Love,
DM/Betsy (she insisted my name had to go on these as well)
The whole ‘honor of joy’ bit? Don’t ask me what it’s supposed to mean. (It means you CAN have lots of joy just by eating the muffins – DM just laboriously typed this out while the last batch cools.)
We’ll be making more muffins next week, for neighbors, bus drivers, after-school caregivers, and the like (maybe even for The Mogul, if he earns one, that is…)
